Trading System

A Trading System by many definitions is a method or strategy of trading where buy/sell signal are defined as a result of technical analysis. In general, by going wider, it could be stated that any set of rules that allows to automate trading on the market could be called a trading system. No matter what you use, whether it is technical analysis or fundamental analysis or even "flip the coin" analysis or combination of all of the above, if the rules you set allows you to automate the process of making a buy/sell decision you may say that these rules comprise your trading system. Basically, if  a trading decision is based on certain rules, most cases technical analysis conditions and it does not involve a human factor, then this set of rules could be called trading system. Human may still gather the information, human may still follow the rules and it is still will be a trading system as long as human acts like an automated entity. If the process of making a trading decision is automated or if the process of making a trading decision could be automated theoreticaly then you may call this process a trading system. If you cannot automate this process even theoretically than this process cannot be named as a trading decision.

Every investor has his own market Trading System (Trading Strategy) based on his/her trading preferences and risk tolerance when it comes to making money in the stock market. In most cases trading systems are based on the elements of technical analysis. Some traders (especially those who involved in fundamental analysis) are stating that technical analysis is not an exact science and it does not guarantee that you future results, it is more of an art and takes a considerable amount of experience. In some way it could be agreed upon, however, neither fundamental analysis nor any other type of analysis will guarantee you future results on the market. When it comes to the prediction of future trend movement everything could be considered as not an exact since.

Not all studies work the same for every instrument traded. One study may give excellent buy and sell signals while another may not work for you at all. It's up to each individual trader to find those that will fit his or her specific needs. Technical analysis attempts to use past stock price and volume information to predict future price movements.
